Description: This year, Finfringe’s wave of performance art reaches even Turku’s legendary means of transport – the Föri city ferry and the Funicular hillside lift! During the festival week, everyday journeys turn into experiences, as crossing the river or riding up the hill may surprise you with performance art!
Check out the programme and catch a performance along the way!

RAKKAUTTA FUNIKULAARISSA (Love in the Funicular)
Drag enchantment, the sweet sounds of the kalimba, and love in the air! We invite the audience to a participatory poetry moment that lasts the duration of a single funicular ride.
Performers: Mette Paloniemi & Karoliina Pyöriä
AJAN PATINAA
Friends gathered over a cup of coffee. What happens when old cultural heritage meets the indifference of the present day? The performance offers a moment to pause at timelessness and human encounters. There is no benefit in haste, nor honour in rushing.
Come on in!
Performers: Ruu Hartikainen and Emilia Keto
Produced in collaboration with Turku University of Applied Sciences.
TURKU INTERNATIONAL HOBBYHORSE SHOW Nestori Kyyrä’s hobbyhorse show brings the well-known hobbyhorse trainer Cheval Le Tentereur to the heart of beautiful Turku to present traditional hobbyhorse dressage. Le Tentereur is a descendant of a great family of hobbyhorse enthusiasts and continues his family’s legacy on their ancestral estate on the outskirts of Paris, along the banks of the Seine. Originally from "this side of the Seine” himself, Le Tentereur feels a strong connection with his noble Turku counterparts and can’t wait to swim in our clean river and taste a local bishop’s doughnut!
Performer: Nestori Kyyrä
RENAISSANCE ENSEMBLE – Laurentius et pueri renascentiæ
The Turku-based early music collective Laurentius et pueri renascentiæ specialises in performing rarely heard works by the odd figures of past eras — composers whom history has buried in obscurity, yet whose musical inventions can still astonish modern ears. The ensemble has also taken on the mission of reviving the refined art of classical improvisation, which has largely fallen into the margins.
In addition to its rather unconventional programming, the group is eager to challenge established concert practices and gladly takes part in a wide variety of projects. They have performed everywhere from Turku Castle to abandoned industrial halls and the basements of cultural centres. Founded and led by archlutenist Lauri Kujari, the now 11-member collective consists mainly of students from the Turku Arts Academy.
